What animal made this huge scat specimen?

During last night’s daily hike around the farm, I decided to veer off the beaten path to one of the stands of persimmon trees. With ground finally visible through the snow, I was hoping to find some animal scat containing naturally scarified persimmon seeds.

I had immense success. Either a large mammal deposited this specimen or a small animal ate too many persimmons and had, what I can only imagine the human equivalent to be, a taco bell-induced emergency bowel evacuation.

Either way here are some pictures. I ended up collecting over 100 seeds!

Looks a little like deer scat.

Ah I forgot to mention here that there were numerous piles of deer scat around and under the pile in question. This specimen did not have much structure so I’m guessing an opossum gorged on the persimmons.
