Coming to terms with culling my tree seedlings

It seems like such a shame to have to cull the weaker seedlings that share a starter cell with another. I know it is in the best interest of the trees, but it is still hard to deliberately kill a living organism I worked hard to produce.

On the other side of the coin, do you think my hens will enjoy a treat of…er…malted honey locust?
